Barcelona is the most important pigeon race of the season in Western Europe. Nearly everyone hopes of winning it one day. Thanks to PIPA you can win a pigeon of noble Barcelona blood, a grandchild of New Laureaat, by predicting the average velocity of this year’s international winner. Participate and win!

Do you still remember last year’s edition? It was a tropical race from Barcelona with the birds being liberated at 7.40am CEST. The eventual winner was Special One, by the Cuffel P. & Son Family in France, the only bird to arrive home the same day (Friday). The second prize was won by Belgium’s Noël Peiren and the bronze medal by Kees Droog (Holland), the international winner from Pau two weeks ago.

Every year PIPA is looking forward to the international classic from Barcelona. After all, the Gyselbrecht family has been fond of the race ever since they started racing birds. No surprise their interest even increased after winning the international race with their Laureaat Barcelona in 1995. Dr. Carlo’s family of birds for the greater part consists of descendants of the Laureaat Barcelona, the offspring of which is still proving its worth today, more than twenty years after Laureaat Barcelona’s win. Check out the report on the dominance of the Laureaat Barcelona bloodline.

Win a descendant of Laureaat Barcelona and New Laureaat, two international Barcelona winners

You have a chance of winning a descendant of that golden Laureaat Barcelona strain. A youngster, bred by Dr. Carlo Gyselbrecht himself, which descends froms the international Barcelona winners in 1995 and 2013: a grandchild from New Laureaat (1st International Barcelona 2013 at Luc Wiels’ lofts) and an inbred to the golden stock bird of the Gyselbrecht family, the Laureaat Barcelona.

The New Laureaat is a great grandson of the Laureaat Barcelona of the family Gyselbrecht that won the 1st International Barcelona in 1995. A stunning performance at the time since only three pigeons succeeded in flying more than 1000 mpm and since the 4th International arrived about 1.5 hours later than the Laureaat Barcelona! We can therefore say that the youngster you can win is truly from the best. And of course entirely for free. Have a look at the pedigree of the youngster you can win in this year’s Barcelona contest.

With a grandson of the New Laureaat you will be getting an offspring of the Laureaat dynasty that in recent years dominated the long distance races:

  • 1st Int. Barcelona 1995 – Gyselbrecht (Laureaat Barcelona, directly bred by Dr. Carlo Gyselbrecht)
  • 1st Int. Barcelona 2003 – Fauche (great-grandchild Laureaat Barcelona, grandfather was bred by Dr. Carlo Gyselbrecht)
  • 1st Int. Barcelona 2013 – Wiels (great-grandchild, the dam was bred by Dr. Carlo Gyselbrecht)
  • 1st Int. St.-Vincent 2014 – Meulemans-Damen (great-grandchild Laureaat Barcelona) 2nd Int. Barcelona 2008 – Van Kerckvoorde (great-grandchild Laureaat Barcelona, grandmother was bred by Dr. Carlo Gyselbrecht)
  • 1st Nat. Pau 2006 – Moens (grandchild Laureaat Barcelona)
  • 1st Nat. Ace Pigeon Grand Distance KBDB 2008 with 0.25% – Etienne Meirlaen (great-grandchild Laureaat Barcelona)

An illustrious list in which the New Laureaat perfectly fits thanks to his Barcelona performances, which granted him the title of 1st Best Barcelona Bird International 2011-2013:

Barcelona 2011 (Velocity: 1340 mpm)
  1st Brabant - 1,550 p.
  8th Nationaal – 12,281 p.
  41st International – 26,650 p.
Barcelona 2012 (1061 mpm)
  43rd Brabant - 1.512 p.
  323rd National – 11,590 p.
Barcelona 2013 (944 mpm)
  1st National - 10,685 p.
  1st International – 25,382 p.

These results aren’t all that remarkable if we take a good look at the New Laureaat’s pedigree:

On his father's side:

The dam to the grandchild New Laureaat is an inbred to the Laureaat Barcelona and a daughter to extreme long distance ace bird Nathan.

-Nathan BE10-4258537

Bred at the lofts of Dr. Carlo Gyselbrecht in Knesselare but raced at the lofts of Degrave-Gyselbrecht in Wemmel. His dam, Nathan Laureaat hen BE08-4270165, is an inbred to Laureaat Barcelona. She is a double grandchild to Laureaat Barcelona, from a pairing of half-brother x half-sister (from a son x daughter Laureaat Barcelona). Nathan’s sire Maurisco Laureaat also comes from a grandson of Laureaat Barcelona and is also the son of the 1st International Perpignan 17,643 b. 2008 (Robol) and the half-brother of the 2nd International Barcelona 23,708 b. 2008 (Van Kerckvoorde). Once again we can say that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! Nathan won:

Barcelona Nat. 10,542 b. 11
            Internat. 25,294 b. 16
