The third acquisition made by Mr. Sorin Florea this month is‘ Indigo DiCaprio’- daughter of the famous Di Caprio. Besides exceptional genes, ‘Indigo DiCaprio‘ looks exactly like his father.
Di Caprio was acquired by Dirk in the total auction Heremans-Ceusters in 2007. Di Caprio was one of the best racers in the auction offer by then, but it seems faded in the eyes of buyers besides Euro, Rossi and other famous pigeons of Heremans-Ceusters tandem. EURO, the most wanted pigeon from that auction was purchased by Eijerkamp family after a huge investment, Euro being purchased for an amount of 33,000 euros a fabulous price in those years, considering that we are talking about a sprint pigeon.
Dirk came from the very beginning decided mainly on Di Caprio. After more than two years, in a discussion that I had with Henk Jurriens (Eijerkamp manager) about this auction, I told him that i was very surprised that he “escape” Di Caprio. He said that is the biggest regret of them, but Di Caprio was offered for sale somewhere at the end of the auction, and he was already exceeded their budget.
Super racer “Di Caprio” quickly turned into super breeder “Di Caprio”, earned for Dirk references of thousands around the globe, especially in Europe, especially in countries like Germany, where both Van Dick and Heremans pigeons wrote history for many years.
