This week-end the famous Andreas Drapa visited Florea Sorin. Aiming at seeing the pigeons that this one bought on Pipa during the last one year and a half, he decided to visit the latter. Meanwhile he heard about the excellent pigeons that Mr. Sorin has from his fellow countrymen Alfons Klaas and Klaus Stieneker, as well as from Nikolaas Gyselbrecht, the founder of PIPA.BE .
Yesterday Andreas got all his pigeons back – those stolen in November 2013, that is all the breeding females, Olimpic female pigeons and national aces. The female pigeons stolen from him were assessed at over 1 million Euros!!! This is no exaggeration for the pigeons Andreas has, if we consider that the famous “Flitzerin” was sold in Japan for half a million Euros. No comments for this situation and how detrimental this was for Romania’s image around the world. The Romanian pigeon fanciers will feel it themselves, when they will visit aviaries in the Western countries.
All is well that ends well. As he was very impressed by the pigeons that Mr. Sorin had, Andreas decided to leave all the repossessed breeding females in Mr. Sorin’s lofts for common mating. The resulting young pigeons will be shared by the two pigeon fanciers , in equal parts. Thus, the best female pigeons for speed – all over the world- will breed in Romania, in Team Florea’s lofts. It’s the first time that Andreas Drapa does that…the first time!!! As they liked each other from the beginning, Andreas and Sorin agreed to form a new partnership that will be active in Germany: Drapa & Florea!!!
The friendship with Andreas was quickly mediated by Nea Hantzi , Andreas’s brother- in-law. Andreas’ wife was born in a German family from Medias; Nea Hantzi speaks Romanian perfectly , though he left Romania more than 30 years ago.
It is for the first time that I myself have met Andreas. Due to Silviu Glodeanu, an old friend of Andreas’s , I had seen many pigeons of Drapa. Thus I discovered a great pigeon fancier, a real fanatic pigeon lover. Though he became a millionnaire due to pigeons ever since the 90’s: Andreas was taking care of the doves on his own: feeding them, cleaning, training them. He became a successful pigeon fancier since he was 14 years old- the year when he won the first money betting on his pigeons- that is 800 Marks. Since then the bets won on his pigeons reached certain amounts greater than what could ever imagine. Till the beginning of the years 2000, in Western Europe people would tremendously bet on pigeons. Even now they bet a lot on pigeons in Germany. Regarding the recovered female pigeons , Andreas was telling me how much each of them won on bets: this one- 30,000 Euros, this one- 11, 000 Euros, this one 5,000 Euros . Thus we can draw a sure conclusion about Andreas Drapa as a pigeon fancier, about his pigeons and about the way he motivates them at the due time.
